You might have heard a lot about super foods that help in weight loss. The super foods in 2018, at least according to trends, showed legumes, avocados and sweet potatoes as the most popular one. However, 2019 is a year of change, and hence you might want to switch your preferences and try something new and more effective.
One of the most important new year’s resolutions for most people is to reduce weight. If you are not the kind of person who follows strict diet rules or any kind of a strict diet plan (such as a keto diet), then you can simply add some foods into your daily meal plan to help you in achieving your mission of weight loss.
If you observe the trends, almost every year the kind of super foods which rise in popularity changes. A food type which you might not even have heard about a couple of years back may have become a super food in the year 2018 (which is what happened with avocados).
However, this year you should not be considering only adding super foods into your diet especially for the purpose of weight loss, but in fact you should actually consider changing your whole diet. But of course, that’s easier said than done.

Go Green This Year
Go for natural things this year as nature offers us many healthy food options to keep ourselves fit and healthy. Hydration is the most important natural resource, and although you might not feel like drinking water should be a top priority for you, but it is very vital for your overall health.
Many people experience dehydration shortly after festivities of the New Year because they have consumed high-sugar drinks in the form of cocktails or wine. It is time that you sufficiently hydrate your body by consuming at least 8 glasses of purified water every day.
Also, as part of your daily liquid intake, do not forget to add natural juices into your diet. Cucumber juice, spinach juice, or celery juice are very good for your skin and for stabilizing the sugar level in your blood. Herbal teas like green tea or chamomile tea are very beneficial for health and in curtailing fat accumulation in the body. The green pigmentation in green tea or vegetable juices represents the presence of chlorophyll which helps increase alkaline levels in body, something which can act as a great detox especially after consumption of alcohol.
For weight loss purposes, nutritionists recommend the consumption of highly-concentrated green tea in the morning instead of consuming black tea or sugar-added coffee. There is a high-content of caffeine in green tea as well which can fulfill your caffeine requirement in the morning.
Prefer A Vegetable-Enriched Diet
A vegetable-enriched diet is beneficial both for your health and for the environment as well. Many people have begun to recognize the fact that a vegan diet is better, nutrition-wise, as compared to a non-vegan diet. Your aim should be to increase the fiber content in your diet and reduce the consumption of saturated fats. Hence, it is better to consume at least 1 to 2 meatless days per week in order to increase your intake of vegetables. In those meatless days, you should have fresh seasonal vegetables, nuts, fruits and legumes cooked, in any form such as soups, smoothies, or stir fry. Such a diet will improve your fiber intake and reduce your consumption of animal-based saturated fat.
Vegetables also help in reducing the accumulated toxins level in your body and improve the bowel movement efficiency. Because vegetables are low in calorie, therefore they are very good for people who want to reduce weight. However, eating too many nuts is not recommended if you want to reduce weight because nuts are high in calories and saturated fats as well.
Increase Your Consumption Of Probiotics
Probiotics are important for maintaining optimal gut health. To increase your intake of probiotics, you need to consume foods which contain the probiotic bacteria such as yogurt, bananas, kefir, miso, tempe, and kimchi. However, nutritionists recommend that, among these foods, yogurt is the best because it does not only improve your digestive health but also strengthens your immune system.
