CELEBS ARE GOING CRAZY FOR THE ALL-NEW KETO DIET

There are just tons of ways on how to lose weight, the most common things are working out, staying stressed-free, and of course eating healthy and in moderation. However, these things for some reason is just not good enough, because there are just countless of types of diets out there that people can try.

People try to not have any type of sugar or caffeine, then there are some who chooses not to eat red meat, who chooses to eat foods that doesn’t contain any gluten, and more. Almost every nutritionist believes that a diet must always depend on the person, because not every diet would work on everyone, which is why it is also best to try whatever works for you because a diet that may have worked for your friend may not work for you so seeing a dietitian is probably one of the most ideal ways to start your diet right and so that you wouldn’t be wasting time and effort on doing something that may not be suitable for you at all.

Some people believe that getting foods that are low-fast is actually the best choice to make, but then there are also some who believes that foods that contain whole fat is actually way more effective. Which is why in the past couple of years, whole fat milk and yogurt have actually managed to soar and nutritionists have approved that fatty foods such as fish, avocado as well as olive oil is actually good for the body. This is actually known to be what they call the ketonic diet.

KETONIC DIET

Celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé, Megan Fox, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mick Jagger, have actually embraced this type of diet. Basically, it is when a person eats a lot of fat but not so much carbohydrates. This ketonic diet is actually 80% compromised of fat, with just about 15% of protein and just a bit of calories with 5%. So if someone is trying to consume about 1,500 a day on a ketonic diet, this would translate to just 19 grams of carbohydrates.

This is compared to a normal person’s diet that contains about 55% carbohydrates, just 15% of protein with 30% fat. This is known as the ketonic diet because once you have depleted yourself of carbohydrates, all the brain’s source of fuel would then tell the body to break down fat to be sued for energy instead, and this is where the body goes into the ketonic state.

According to the director of the Child Neurology Resodency Program at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Eric Kossoff, “It’s low carb but high fat so that your body will break down the fat as the primary fuel source. If you keep carbohydrates low enough, that’s what the body has to do.”

He also said that those who are on a classic ketonic diet may actually surprise you when you find out that they eat a lot of butter, mayonnaise, whipped cream, and not just avocados and nuts, just basically anything that contains different types of fat.

KETONIC DIET FOR EPILEPSY

During the 1920s, the classic ketonic diet has been one of the treatments for epilepsy. “It’s a very well-established, very mainstream therapy for epilepsy in today’s society. Your body will create ketones, and either the ketones, or keeping your carbohydrates low, or probably something even more than that helps suppress seizures in people who have epilepsy.”

According to the celebrity nutritionist Philip Goglia, PhD, “When in a state of metabolic kerosine, the body will shed pounds rapidly. The plan is used to temporary but quick weight loss.”

Dr. Goglia is the nutritionist of the Kardashians, Kanye West, and Batman actor, Christian Bale. And he warns people that this diet is definitely not for everyone. “Just because your buddy list 15 pounds on a ketonic food protocol, it doesn’t make sense that you just jump on it and start it without taking a look at a lipid profile for example and looking at your heart health history,” the celebrity nutritionist explained.

It was also reported that Beyoncé lost about 30 pounds because of the ketonic diet in just 3 weeks after giving birth to her twins. Other celebrities who have managed to lose weight with the help of the ketonic diet are Melissa McCarthy, Adriana Lima, and Halle Berry.
