13 Celebs Who Adopted A Vegan Diet

Some people find it odd to give up meat and animal products entirely, yet the evidence of health benefits from following a plant-based diet continues to grow. We found 13 celebs who back up the evidence and adopted the vegan lifestyle even if they are not fully vegans themselves.

Jay-Z & Beyoncé

Apparently not day-to-day vegans, the power couple went on a 22-day vegan challenge in 2013 which pretty much spread the V-word around the globe on the food trend. Having since gone back to the diet from time to time, Beyoncé has now launched a vegan delivery business which is sure to be a hit.

Jessica Simpson

Leading up to her wedding Jessica stuck to an entirely vegan diet combined with a heavy exercise regime to look her best. The former Weight Watchers spokesperson did this for a full two weeks ahead of her big day but has not become a permanent follower despite looking radiant at her nuptials.

Brad Pitt

Brad has supposedly been vegan for years while his wife, Angelina Jolie, is not. So in a family with 6 kids and parents who have such conflicting diets, what do the little ones end up eating?

Natalie Portman

Natalie had been a vegetarian since she was a child but became a vegan follower and activist after reading Jonathan Safran Foer’s Eating Animals. The book explains how animals are raised, killed, and processed, which is probably enough for any of us to refuse to ever eat meat again. The actress did go back to being vegetarian when pregnant in

The actress did go back to being vegetarian when pregnant in 2011 but returned to a vegan diet after the birth.

Jennifer Lopez

Lopez did the 22-day vegan challenge as well (as did Beyoncé and Jay-Z). Having since added fish to her diet, the star says she has never felt better eating mostly plants. Lopez does, however, admit to missing butter. “Butter makes everything taste better”, she said.

Bryan Adams

An avid Greenpeace and PETA supporter, the Canadian rock star made the decision that he can not work for these organizations and then turn around and eat animals. “I’ve made a decision not to be part of the cycle of killing animals”, Bryan has stated. Clean and super cool.

Tobey Maguire

Known best for his role as Spider-Man, Tobey gets all of his fuel for such action roles from eating purely plant-based foods. He has been vegan since 2009 and shows no signs of quitting.

Ellen DeGeneres & Portia De Rossi

Ellen and Portia switched to veganism after realizing that they simply loved animals too much to consume them or their products. The weight loss benefits have been terrific for the couple, especially for Portia according to Ellen. The talk show host added, “We are just both very happy. It feels like such a compassionate choice“.

Dance musician Moby has stated that “we shouldn’t make people feel bad or guilty for their lifestyle choices, even if they reject veganism”. Pretty cool. Of course Moby’s 1996 album is called Animal Rights, and he even has a vegan café in New York, so he definitely promotes the lifestyle to be sure, but without pressure.

Anne Hathaway

This vegan starlet went a step further then eating clean and actually used her diet to help define her portrayal of The White Queen in Alice In Wonderland. “I imagined The White Queen as a punk-rock, vegan pacifist”, Anne stated. We’re not sure what tie-in is here, but we are happy that healthy inspires!

Ariana Grande

This young diva tweeted in 2013 that she would be going plant-based for both her health and in the name of animals. So we hope the doughnut she was recently caught taking a bite out of was strictly vegan.

Alanis Morissette

Many celebs say they simply feel happier going vegan, and Alanis is no exception. “I feel very alive”, the singer/songwriter stated after cutting meat and other animal products from her diet. “I have no more aches and pains, and my allergies are gone too”.

Bill Clinton

Needing to shift his diet to a healthier alternative, former US President Bill Clinton became a vegan and lost 24 lbs. In 2010 Bill was named PETA’s Person Of The Year for his promotion of the benefits to sticking to plant-based foods.
