Fizzy Drinks Alter Your Body In More Ways Than You Think
Fizzy drinks of any sort are beverages that are made with carbonated water. These drinks usually have sugar in them, although now almost every famous fizzy drink manufacturer has a sugar-free variant of the same flavored with artificial sweeteners. They obtain their distinct flavoring from artificial flavor sources, and also from the little amount of caffeine and preservatives added into them.
We’re not sure if it’s the caffeine or the unique taste, but many people become addicted to these fizzy drinks and start consuming them in large amounts on a daily basis, which is not healthy at all for various reasons, the high amount of sugar in them being the number one reason.
The Culprit is The Sugar
According to various research works, regular consumption of fizzy drinks may have seriously negative effects on our overall health. Consuming sugary beverages in large quantities has the potential to result in obesity and disproportionate weight gain, which consequently also increases the risk of contracting diabetes type 2 as well as high blood pressure.
The onset of dental problems and bone ailments has also been reported by some patients, especially those who have a record of consuming sugary drinks in large quantities over the years. In order to minimize these risks associated with consumption of sweetened fizzy drinks, many people have switched to sugar-free drinks.
The Sugar-Free Solution: Avoid!
These drinks are sweetened with artificial sweeteners that carry no empty calories; hence many people believe that they will be able to minimize the risk of getting diabetes and hypertension if they consume sugar-free drinks.
But, surprisingly, health-related problems associated with frequent consumption of such sugar-free drinks are more severe in nature than most people realize. In fact, those who consume a large amount of artificial sweeteners develop a higher risk of contracting heart-related problems as well as kidney problems.
Artificial sweeteners used in diet sodas stimulate the production of insulin levels in the blood and could result in the creation of insulin resistance. According to research studies, the chances of diabetes type 2 increase by 13% in consumers who drink diet soft drinks in large quantities. Diet drinks also decrease potassium levels in the blood and increase the risk of hypertension.
All The Harms of Drinking Fizzy Drinks
Regular consumption of fizzy drinks affects the immunity of a person because it impacts the normal digestion of nutrients in food, as many of us prefer to have our meals with fizzy drinks. The large amount of caffeine in fizzy drinks increases the metabolic rate of the body, and as a result food is digested without proper absorption of nutrients in the blood.
According to health experts, fizzy drinks age you as fast as smoking because of side effects that these drinks cause in body. People who stop smoking can experience positive changes in their body from the very first day. Stopping the consumption of fizzy drinks has the same effect. You feel positive changes in your body right away.
When you stop consuming fizzy drinks, your metabolism rate begins to stabilize. You feel less bloated and sluggish. Because soda affects the normal absorption of calcium and potassium in body, therefore, quitting soda increases your energy levels by stabilizing the calcium levels and potassium levels in the blood.
People who consume fizzy drinks and engage themselves in cardio exercises, burning that abnormal fat on their bodies at a greater pace compared to those who exercise but do not stop consuming fizzy drinks. Fizzy drinks may also decrease fertility levels in woman and could increase risk of developing cysts in ovaries.
High consumption of sugary fizzy drinks affects the insulin levels in woman and they may suffer from insulin resistance, which in turn causes a sudden spike of sugar level in the blood, as a result of which the testosterone levels in female ovaries increases. By discontinuing sugary fizzy drinks, insulin levels in blood become stabilized and rate of fertility increases. Medical studies also show that discontinuation of fizzy drinks decrease the depression level in patients and increase their focus level.
