Kim Kardashian May Have Lupus, and This Is the Horrible Impact It Would Have on Her Health!
This would not be the first time that Kim Kardashian has given us a health scare. According to the trailer recently released for the upcoming season of the reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim might be suffering from a condition called lupus, or at least that is what she is shown to believe while paying a visit to the doctor’s office.
In another clip of the trailer, Kim is shown on the verge of crying as her mother Kris Jenner is comforting her by telling her to wait for the results first before drawing any conclusions and remaining positive till that happens. But if Kim does have lupus, how would it change her life?
Understanding Lupus
In medical terms, lupus is called systemic lupus erythematosus, and it impacts the autoimmune system of a person whereby the skin, nervous system, kidneys, joints, blood cells, and even organs come under attack by the immune system.
Basically, our system produces antibodies to protect us against any germs and harmful substances trying to enter the body. However, when this system starts to behave abnormally, that is when conditions like lupus become manifest, whereby the system makes antibodies that start destroying healthy cells and tissues.
For now, there is no known cause as to why lupus occurs in certain individuals. However, scientists do believe that perhaps our genetics have some role to play in the onset of this disease. Also, judging by the evidence, it also seems like lupus impacts people of different genders and ethnicities rather differently. For example, women of color are more prone to getting lupus as compared to white men, which means that Kim is a likely candidate for the disease.
Know The Symptoms
If Kim believes that she has lupus, then perhaps she is experiencing some or all of the below-mentioned symptoms of the disease. According to studies, patients with lupus may experience fever, lingering fatigue, pain in the joints, or a rash on the body.
In fact, if you have a rash in the shape of a butterfly spread across the cheeks and nose of your face, there is a very high chance that you are suffering from lupus.
Another warning sign which you can watch out for pertains to the functioning of the kidneys. If you believe that your kidneys are not working normally, something you can assess by monitoring your ankles and your eyes for any swelling in the surrounding regions, weight gain, or even blood in your urine, then you need to get yourself checked for lupus.
The kidneys are at risk of failing if you have lupus, something experienced by singer Selena Gomez, who had to get a new kidney through a transplant back in 2017.
Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid the onset of lupus, and the best way forward for sufferers is to receive treatment that is most effective at alleviating the intensity of the symptoms and reducing the damage received by the organs.
