What Can You Do To Help Your Doctor Diagnose Your Medical Condition Accurately?

Do you ever find yourself getting frustrated when you go to a checkup, thinking that your illnesses will be healed, only to find out that they won’t? It seems like the medication prescribed is no longer working. Instead, our illness or medical condition got worse. While it’s the physician’s job to make us feel better (since they earned a degree in medicine), sometimes it’s our fault why we’re not getting any better.
Why? It’s because we’re not exactly cooperative and honest with our physician. You should realize by now that connecting with your physician is more than just a work relationship. It needs trust and mutual understanding for the both of you to work. Your physician is your mentor or guardian which nurses your health, and if we won’t cooperate, how can our physician properly diagnose any medical condition we’re suffering? Here’s what you can do to help your doctor diagnose your medical condition properly.
Write Down All The Symptoms You’ve Been Suffering
You might think that you can just manage this when you attend a checkup, but the truth is, oftentimes, you’ll be mentally blocked the moment your physician asks you a question. That’s why it’s important that you write down all the symptoms you’ve felt before going to your checkup. It can help your physician narrow down all the possible illnesses you’ve acquired and it’ll help pinpoint and diagnose your medical condition accurately as soon as possible. Not only that, but did you know that having a comprehensive and detail record of your medical history will also help the physicians to trace back any medical conditions you’ve inherited from your family.

Having a Medical Diary Helps You Understand Your Body More
This is also known as the genetic or hereditary diseases. The doctors will also be able to know how it impacts your life in general. Are the symptoms preventing you from doing your routine? Does it impale your movement? Most of all, having a medical diary won’t just benefit your doctor. It will benefit you, first and foremost, because you’ll be able to understand more about your body. Let’s say for example, in any case, a panic or anxiety attack episode triggers, you’ll know what to do to calm yourself down. Why? Because it’s been listed in your medical diary and you and your physician will discuss it thoroughly. Aside from the medications he or she is prescribing, your physician will also tell you on how to relieve you from the symptoms and prevent it from recurring again.
Don’t forget to raise questions and seek answers
Now that you’re able to know more about how your body works as well as your symptoms, you should be able to find odd, bizarre patterns or triggering factors as your symptoms resurface. This will give room for questions and discussions. The doctors want you to be comfortable with them and discuss whatever it is that’s bothering you, your physical, mental and emotional aspect. This way, you’ll be able to know more and understand your medical condition.

Don’t Hesitate to Ask Questions to Your Physician
Whenever your doctor may start explaining using jargon or technical words not understandable to the common public, never hesitate to ask for an explanation. Just speak up so that the both of you will have a clear and accurate communication. If there’s something wrong with your body that’s not working as it should be, then don’t hesitate to tell your doctor. In this way, any misunderstanding or mistake can be minimized. Remember that when it comes to your health, there is nothing like dumb questions. You deserve to know every single detail that’s been happening in your body.
Ask For a Medical Report After Checkups or Medical Appointment

Always Ask for a Medical Report After Your Appointment
After you have your checkup or medical appointment, make sure to ask for a copy of a medical report or a summary about the checkup or about your health diagnosis. The purpose of the medical report or diagnosis is for you and your family members to look back and assess your diagnosis. No matter how thorough or interactive the discussion you just had, chances are, you’ll forget some things or details about it. The medical report will summarize your medical condition and it also serves as your key points the moment you explain to your family members what’s happening to you. In cases where lifestyle changes must be implemented, you’ll have an easier time explaining to your parents or family why you’re prompted to do it. The medical report will serve as proof that you’re in dire need of lifestyle changes to improve your health.
