Taylor Swift Admitted to a Bizarre Sleeping Condition on Television, and Fans Couldn’t Believe It!
Taylor Swift has written and re-written the rules of being a celebrity, and Swifties love her for it. Love her or hate her, you cannot deny that she is one of, if not the most, accessible stars in the industry.
Just look at all the amazing things she has done for her fans, from inviting them into her home to planning elaborate surprises for them. And when it comes to sharing her personal issues with Swifties, she sometimes goes overboard. But this only shows that she’s just as human as the rest of us, right?
After a long hiatus from the public eye, Taylor was back on Ellen last week to pour her heart out. She seemingly intended to hold nothing back and she didn’t, but she did leave us guessing when she’s going to drop her next single. Ellen’s Burning Questions segment has shown us some crazy sides to our beloved celebrities and with Taylor Swift, it was no different.
Sleep Eating!
The artist revealed that she’s always had a strange sleeping problem, and when Ellen pressed her to tell more, Taylor admitted that often sleepwalks at night. And during these episodes, she goes down to her kitchen and eats whatever she finds! You thought sleepwalking was a big deal? Try sleep eating!
This sleep eating thing is usually involuntary, and she usually has no recollection of it in the morning. She wakes up, heads into her kitchen and scratches her head wondering what might have happened.
As she put it, it’s akin to a raccoon raiding a dumpster. Oh, dear Taylor! To put yourself in the same category as a raccoon is a little harsh but the pop star is not afraid to make fun of herself. If humor works to put her point across, she’ll use it.
Ellen was quite perplexed by this revelation, but she, along with her audience, had no choice but to believe her. After all, Taylor lives alone so the culprit behind missing food and raided cupboards could only be herself. Well, she also has her cats, but accusing them of rummaging through her fridge is a little far-fetched.
Taylor’s delivery of this peculiar habit of hers was quite hilarious, and she always finds a way to sprinkle some joy into everything, doesn’t she? All the same, sleep eating is indeed a condition recognized by the American Sleep Association.
The Association describes it as the unconscious waking up in the middle of the night (and it could be once or multiple times) to excessively eat or drink, even if you’re not hungry or thirsty.
Associated Health Risks
Additionally, they say that sleep eating poses some serious health risks for the affected individual, with the most obvious one being increased weight gain. This is because a sleep eater tends to consume high-calorie foods, especially ones that they actively avoid when they are fully awake and conscious of their actions.
A dangerous food combination could also create complications if you have any food allergies, and then there’s also a great risk of consuming inedible items.
What if the individual unconsciously decides to prepare a meal in that state? The danger is evident! They could cause a fire or injure themselves in the process.
Apart from the direct danger sleep eating poses to an individual, it also disrupts their sleep pattern, which affects the person’s overall health. The good thing, however, is that it is easily managed by a physician working in conjunction with a nutritionist.
