Trick Your Mind into Self-Motivation, Here’s how!
There is a lot that needs to be done every day, especially for those driven individuals who like to achieve a lot. Whether it’s going to the gym early in the morning, or taking out time to have lunch at the office, without proper planning you are bound to miss out on certain to-do things on a daily basis.
Unfortunately, this results in tasks piling-up, and before you know it your to-do list becomes so overwhelming that you begin to question your ability to achieve all that you are supposed to in a limited amount of time.
Most people who report lagging behind on their daily tasks do have the time required to complete them, however they choose to not do them simply because at certain points of the day they lack the motivation.
Hence, keeping yourself motivated to complete your daily tasks is crucial if you want to achieve success, but that’s easier said than done. However, by practicing the following tricks, you can help your mind remain on track without having to put in a lot of effort.
Think About Success
It’s very easy to forget about the outcome of a particular task especially when it takes a considerable period of time and effort to complete it. According to Christine Hassler, who is a life coach expert, the best thing to do whenever you feel like giving up on a task or postponing it is to think about the post-task experience which you are going to have, such as that amazing feeling of having achieved something.
This perspective of how great it would feel once the task is completed, and also the rewards which are associated with the task, is enough to help you regain the motivation you require to carry on with it, no matter how daunting it may be, as you will now keep in mind why you set out to do the task in the first place and also what is in store for you once it’s completed.
It’s Best to Plan Ahead of Time
Planning is at the forefront of every successful business, and a business, by the end of the day, is an amalgamation of a number of tasks which must be performed at a certain time while maintaining a certain level of quality. Consider your life to be like a business, and know that its management depends entirely upon how well you plan out each day in your calendar.
If tasks are piling up, or if you already have a lot on your plate, the best thing to do is to chart out all these activities according to the time required and the priority with which they must be completed on a piece of paper. This will help you see what needs to be done at what time, and also let you know the time by which you will have completed all the tasks in order to create room for leisurely activities.
Trick Your Mind
You can trick your mind when you already have a lot on your plate, as your mind, once its attuned to completing all the tasks which are laid out in your calendar, will be convinced it must complete them in due time.
What you need to do is to lay out all your tasks, even those which are of a low priority, and set them side by side with those that hold a high priority, without labeling them as such. This way, it will take time for your mind to register whether a task is low or high priority, and you’ll end up doing them just like you would any high priority task, instead of postponing them to a future date due to their perceivable lesser importance.
Find Inspiration in Others
When you think in isolation, there will definitely come a time when you feel like your efforts are not translating into anything actionable, which will cause you to lose motivation. This is why it’s imperative that you watch or read about the life stories and the struggles undertaken by the people who inspire you, such as world or business leaders.
This way, you’d become more attuned to the fact that hard work eventually pays off, and if you want to become like one of your inspirations, then the effort you make in the present will get you there.
